Edinburgh Zoo:
 Edinburgh Zoo, owned by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, is the largest wildlife attraction in Scotland, commited to the highest standards of animal welfare, conservation and environmental education. Edinburgh Zoo is et in 82 acres of sloping parkland, situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre.
Edinburgh Zoo opened in July 1913 and is now one of Scotland's most successful visitor attractions, second only to Edinburgh Castle in terms of paying visitors, with over 600,000 a year. Open every day of the year including Christmas Day. The Zoo is a wonderful family venue having a wide range of visitor facilities, from free Hilltop Safari rides to the top of the hill, children's play areas, restaurants, gift shops and masses of events and activities throughout the year. Edinburgh Zoo is famous for it's eddangered species such as White Rhinos, Red Panda's Pygmy Hippos and Poison-Arrow Frogs. Edinburgh Zoo has had great success in breeding rare animals but is most probably most famous for having the largest number of penguins in captivity anywhere in the world.
 The crowd of penguins enjoy a "Penguin Parade" at around 2.15pm every day from April to September but only on sunny days in March and October. Edinburgh Zoo is extremely family-oriented and much entertainment can be had watching the penguins as they waddle through the zoo's grounds in one long line. Other family-oriented "educational" attractions include the African Plains Experience (which has a walkway leading you out over the animals to viewing platforms), the Magic Forest (showcasing the smaller primates) and the Evolution Maze which is themed on Darwin's Theories.
