The Apex is a four-star hotel in Edinburgh's Grassmarket alongside the Apex City hotel. Both hotels are a stones throw from Edinburgh castle and command views of the castle. Outside there is a selection of bars and restaurants with outdoor tables to choose from in Summer. The castle, the city's main attraction, is accessible by steps from Grassmarket. This is a direct, if strong, climb up Castle Wynd (but consider it an aerobic workout) to reach the Edinburgh Castle high above. Once there it is worth it for the excellent panoramic views.
